How to Bankrupt a Continent
and feel morally superior about it
Ladies and gentlemen, step right up to witness the greatest show on Earth: the European Union's spectacular three-ring circus of economic masochism, where every policy is designed to hurt Europeans while helping everyone else, and the ringmasters pat themselves on the back for their moral superiority as the tent burns down around them.
In the center ring, we have François Bayrou, the 74-year-old French Prime Minister who's about to become the sixth casualty under Macron's leadership—because why learn from mistakes when you can just repeat them with increasing enthusiasm? Bayrou's latest trick is making €44 billion disappear from French government spending while somehow expecting French voters to applaud. He already has eliminated Easter Monday and Victory Day as national holidays because apparently, the French need fewer days to celebrate their heritage and more days to work themselves into poverty. Brilliant!
But wait, there's more! While French citizens get their benefits frozen at 2025 levels—because who needs inflation adjustments when you have moral clarity—France continues shipping €3 billion in military aid to Ukraine. That's right, folks: French grandmothers can eat cake at 2025 prices while Ukrainian soldiers get 2025 weapons at 2025 exchange rates. It's the kind of mathematical gymnastics that would make a circus acrobat weep with envy.
The best part? Bayrou knows he's politically dead on September 8th when parliament votes no confidence. Even Marine Le Pen and the far-left are united in wanting him gone—a political achievement that requires special talent. But hey, at least he'll go down swinging at French citizens while foreign governments cash their checks.
Meanwhile, in the left ring of our magnificent circus, we have Friedrich Merz performing his death-defying "German Welfare Contradiction" act. Watch in amazement as he declares Germany's welfare system "financially unsustainable" while simultaneously expanding it! It's a feat of logical impossibility that defies the laws of mathematics, economics, and basic human reasoning.
Here's the punchline: 63% of Germany's welfare recipients have migration backgrounds despite representing only 24% of the population. The system is mathematically doomed—by 2050, Germany will have 1.3 workers supporting each retiree. But questioning this arithmetic makes you a Nazi or racist, so instead, they're cutting Ukraine aid by €4 billion while implementing €11 billion in domestic cuts. Because clearly, the problem isn't the unsustainable welfare system—it's that Germans aren't suffering enough yet.
The sheer audacity is breathtaking. Merz's government tells Germans they can't afford to maintain their own social safety net while lecturing them about their moral obligations to fund foreign wars. It's like a doctor telling you that your cancer is incurable but you really need to donate more blood.
But hold onto your hats, because the right ring features the European Commission's greatest hits: sanctions packages that hurt Europeans while enriching Russians! We're now on the nineteenth—nineteenth!—package of sanctions against Russia, and by some miracle of bureaucratic incompetence, Russia is making more money from European energy sales than before the sanctions began.
Here's how the magic trick works: Instead of buying Russian gas directly for €1, Europeans now buy the same Russian gas through Indian and Turkish middlemen for €4. The extra €3 goes to Russian profits and middleman fees, while Europeans congratulate themselves on their moral purity. It's genius! Why pay normal prices when you can pay quadruple prices for the same product while funding your enemy's war chest?
But the real masterpiece is the energy independence scam. European leaders have achieved the remarkable feat of making Europe completely dependent on American LNG that costs four times more than Russian gas, while calling this "strategic autonomy." American executives are literally laughing in their corporate jets as they fly between meetings with sanctioned Russian officials and sessions selling overpriced gas to European suckers.
Meanwhile, ExxonMobil is secretly negotiating to return to Russian projects while simultaneously selling Europeans premium American LNG to replace Russian gas. It's the kind of double-dealing that would make a carnival con artist jealous. Europeans are paying premium prices to American companies who are planning to return to Russia anyway. The only winners are American shareholders and Russian state coffers.
And the European citizens? They're paying five times more for energy than Americans while watching their industries flee to China and the United States. European manufacturing is committing economic suicide in slow motion, but at least Brussels bureaucrats can feel good about their moral clarity while the continent deindustrializes.
The immigration arithmetic alone should disqualify every European leader from managing a lemonade stand, let alone a continent. They've created welfare systems that attract more recipients than contributors, creating unsustainable systems that European leaders refuse to reform because acknowledging basic mathematics is apparently racist.
But here's the crown jewel of European stupidity: they're implementing €100 billion in annual domestic austerity while sending €162 billion in aid to Ukraine. Europeans are cutting their own spending to fund foreign military adventures that most Europeans oppose. The polling data reveals the punchline: 61% of Europeans think their countries are heading in the wrong direction, while their leaders double down on every failed policy. It's representative democracy in reverse—the more citizens object, the more enthusiastically their representatives ignore them.
It's the most expensive virtue signaling operation in human history.
Meanwhile, 93.3 million Europeans face poverty while their governments ship billions abroad. Housing costs have exploded, food inflation remains punishing, and energy bills are destroying industrial competitiveness, but Brussels keeps finding money for foreign adventures while declaring domestic spending unsustainable.
And the best part? American favorability has collapsed across Europe as citizens finally realize they're funding both sides of every conflict while paying premium prices for the privilege. Germans now view Trump as negatively as they view Putin, while their own leaders impoverish them in service of American geopolitical interests.
The European project has become a continental suicide pact disguised as moral leadership. European leaders are so committed to virtue signaling that they'd rather bankrupt their own citizens than admit their policies are mathematically impossible. They're the political equivalent of Captain Ahab, steering the ship directly into the whale while lecturing the crew about maritime ethics.
History will marvel at how European leaders managed to turn the world's wealthiest continent into a cautionary tale about the dangers of moral posturing over practical governance. They've achieved the impossible: making European citizens poorer while making their enemies richer, all while congratulating themselves on their ethical superiority.
The circus continues, the tent keeps burning, and European taxpayers keep buying tickets to their own impoverishment. At least when Rome fell, the barbarians had to storm the gates. In Europe's case, they rolled out the red carpet, invited the barbarians inside, and now act shocked as they ransack the castle while the guards lecture everyone about inclusivity.
Bravo, Europe. You've turned continental governance into performance art—and the performance is a tragedy disguised as a morality play.

I, a Dutch resident, currently pay more for my energy bill than for my mortgage. Aside from the costs of the Ukraine nonsense, energy costs in the EU are also higher due to the absurd climate measures. With a little scientific training, this climate nonsense is easy to reject. Apparently, this is too difficult for our technocratic elite. Of course, this elite knows full well that it's not very expedient to deviate from the line of their own political clan. This also applies to the Ukraine nonsense. So why bother? In this internet age, anyone can easily follow what's really going on, but apparently that's too much to ask for many. So, we follow state propaganda en masse...
..... and as a population, we pay dearly for an elite that is interested in (private) profits in Ukraine and Russia at taxpayers' expense. Moreover, this foolish elite wrongly believes they are hindering the development of rising Russia. This also suits Western hegemonists; they want to maintain unipolarity. As Boris Johnson exclaimed in 2022 when rejecting a peace treaty between Ukraine and Russia: "It's about hegemony." These unipolar, hegemonistic elites simply don't realize that their own development/growth is being disrupted, and that Russia is optimally benefiting from the situation with adaptation, opportunities, development, and growth. Besides moral decay, this Western elite also seems to be suffering cognitive decay and decay of their countries.
What an ugly show it is.
